Tempted To Touch

Meet “The Reactable”

While you were trying to flip that David Alexrod sample, Iceland’s super-producer/vocalist, Bjork, was perfecting her skills on the Reactable, a touch-sensitive musical instrument developed by a team of Spanish luthiers (google that). According to researchers, the Reactable allows users to:

“Create complex and dynamic sonic topologies, with generators, filters and modulators, in a kind of tangible modular synthesizer or graspable flow-controlled programming language.”

…In other words, it’s a touch-based drum machine and synthesizer.

Recently, Bjork showed off her Reactable skills at a concert in Iceland, where she played selections from her forthcoming Volta album, which features everyone from Timbaland to a Chinese pipa player named Min Xiao-Fen.

Props to TrendHunter for the heads-up.
